Livestock Buildings

Livestock buildings are exposed to high weather stress, such as wind and rain. To secure the functionality and appearance and achieve as long a lifetime as possible, the components utilized require long-term protection against these effects. At the same time, the parts and components used in the livestock buildings are subject to a range of chemical influences - for example from the recurring cleaning cycles, or ammonia. In livestock rearing in particular, maintaining a food-safe surface is also important.

Livestock building fixtures need to be protected against corrosion as well as being resistant to cleaning agents or dung. In addition, constant contact to animals means that the coatings may not be harmful.

In addition to protection against corrosion and chemicals, fastening elements in livestock buildings must also have good fastening properties.

Ventilators are used for air supply in livestock buildings. Corrosion protection is important, with resistance to fertilizer and cleaning agents provided.

Requirements

  • Corrosion protection (CX as per DIN EN ISO 12944)
  • Chemical resistance, e.g. ammonia
  • Food safe
  • Coloring (silver or black)

Solutions

The DIBt-approved DÖRKEN zinc flake technology offers long-term cathodic corrosion protection whilst at the same time displaying functional characteristics such as resistance to aggressive cleaning agents or fertilizer. This enables the functionality and lifetime of the components to be extended. In addition, they are certified food-safe and can therefore be used for livestock buildings with no risk to animals.
