Bringing back professional and personal impulses: That was the goal with which Emre Kocak, Product Engineer at DÖRKEN Coatings, traveled to China in July and August 2023. He spent six weeks in the People's Republic and visited numerous customers in the country during this time.

"My colleagues and I were able to help them at various points, for example, in solving a technical problem or training employees," Emre recounts. "We also conducted many audits together. Overall, customers were very appreciative of our support."

The visits to Chinese OEMs were also enlightening for him, and therefore for DÖRKEN, especially because of the differences between them and their European counterparts. "Some things I didn't understand before are much clearer to me now," says Emre. He was also surprised by the spontaneity of customer visits: "In China, such appointments are usually planned a week, sometimes a day in advance. I was always allowed to be involved in these as well." His thanks go in particular to his extremely friendly and helpful colleagues on site.

Beyond the business side of things, Emre has been able to gain some valuable experiences: Sightseeing, shopping and cycling in Shanghai, traveling with punctual express trains or the specialties of the respective region, topped off with bubble tea. His personal highlight, however, was an invitation from a colleague to his home region. "I spent a whole weekend there with a full program," says Emre."
