In the settlement of Norja in Udmurtia there is a wooden property built in a Russian style. The total roof area is 320 sqm. The curved surfaces are covered with a copper "chessboard". The area of this roof part is 240 sqm. The residual part just shows a slight incline of around 15°, which is the exact reason why a folding technique, the so-called double German folding, was select to cover it. The whole roof work took two summer months.

The space under the roof is formed by a ventilated cold attic equipped with round windows. Consequently, an insulated roof structure as such is practically not available. The rafters were made from 25 mm thick lined boards, and the product DELTA®-FOXX was installed as a waterproof layer. For the roofing, domestic copper from the SOZM “Splaw” in Gai was chosen. The following tools were used for the metal work: a flanging machine of the model “Bora”, a bending machine by SCHECHTL, roller sheet metal bending machines from Wuko and hand tools of the company Freund. The mentioned tools permitted the manufacturing of the required individual components directly on the object in the required shape and in a superior quality.
Due to the complicated assembly and the requirements in terms of occupational safety, the mountaineering equipment had to be used on the property all the time. A special attention was paid to the production of the curved roof valleys, the edging of the skylight windows as well as the production of the curved front strips. This work was carried out by hand by highly qualified roofers. The additional roof accessories were also made of copper. The roof drainage system consists of channels from “Aquasystem”, while the eaves sheets were laid in copper, and the roof ridge was made of the one and the same metal. The client waived snow protection in confidence in the mild climatic conditions of his region.
